Dissappointment was our first reaction when for a two week period we did not recieve a single post card. As the next two weeks dragged on we became more and more disheartened by the fact that nothing was making it into our box. We had asked several times if we had  anything waiting for us behind the counter and the answer was always, "Sorry, there doesn't seem to be anything."

Saturday I was determined to figure out what was going on and after speaking with 3 employees and finally a manager we figured it out! A box near ours was on vacation and they mistook our mail for theirs. (How this happened we have no idea.) They had a stack of postcards behind the counter and when I got them I could have burst into song!!!!

We're back on track people. Expect to hear more from us as the summer begins!!!!

Open to anyone who is being affected by the recession. Thousand of people have been evicted from their homes, people are trying to find work, others are being laid off, and it seems that there are many more on the horizon. Would you like to tell your story? How has your life changed? How have your priorities shifted? We want everyone to realize what is going on in the world. We want to tell the story of the average person affected. Email us at:

 admin@ProjectOneYear.com

We hope to hear your story soon…

As the months slip by, we are working harder than ever to make sure that we have recieved at least one postcard from each participant. It's been a rough couple of weeks with illnesses and Midterms and Finals. We are making it through.
Unfortunately, the place we had been talking to has announced that it will be closing due to foreclosure. Absolutely no place is sacred anymore.
We are hesitant to get involved with talks with another place, simply because we don’t feel the stability in making arrangements months ahead of time. It’s a little discouraging to find these things out. Of course nothing is simple, and we will power through our turmoil and get things done.

We are having some great responses to our projects. 24 is nearly full! After the first 24 people are assigned we will not be accepting anyone else, so please make sure to get your participation agreements in as soon as humanly possible. Even is we sent you the agreement, it does not guarantee you a spot. I’m so happy to see people getting involved. We are looking into doing three projects on singular people. These are rather intensive projects and require a little more commitment, but are very interesting and wonderfully enlightening. If you are interested, please e-mail us at admin@projectoneyear.com

We look forward to hearing from you and hope you will take the time to comment on our blog. Thanks so much,

Espie

Hello!
We are recieving a wonderous number of postcards, I just wanted to encourage each of you to continue sending the cards. We will have a newsletter out next week detailing a whole bunch of new ideas, and a bio or two from the people who run this program.

Secondly, I want to bring your attention to an event that is going on. We personally know some of the artists involved in i *heart* handmade, and we encourage you to check out the website.

If you comment on an artist's page you also may win something! So go check it out. There's a winner everyday.

Have a great day you guys!

We're not oftened ask how can I help you, since we are mostly involved in helping document the lives we, as humans, lead now, but the recent influx of e-mails has left us pondering this question.
We have decided that we DO NOT accept cash donations. We do not believe that anyone should worry what is going on with their money, But equiptment is always welcome.
Currently, we are in need of donations in the form of disposable cameras.  It is our hope to use these to give to children across the country. Please contact us for our address if you are interested in helping our cause.

Recently we have been swamped with our most recent project. We have decided that a photography project would be an effecticve form of Social Documentation, so we surged ahead with Twenty-four.  It has been a bit more demanding than we have been used to. We have spent a large quantity of time trying to figure out logistics and the rules. We've got a good portion of our ideas down on virtual paper, so we're moving foward.

At this point we are looking for sources of funding other than our own pockets for developing the photos and cameras. We DO NOT want to ask for money from our participants, since some people may not be able to afford that camera, or that roll of film. We want everyone to have the ability to participate.

This project does have a bit of a twist. We are getting 24 participants, advertised all over the world, but we want to find 24 children in the United States willing to do the same thing, but with cameras we are to provide.  This will happen after the original 24 send us their cameras.  This is still in the drawing stages. It takes time to hammer out details. Basically it'll show the difference between the adults who do this project and the children who participate. Sounds like fun, huh? We thought so.

In other news. We have been recieving postcards addressed to Project One Year. I want to stress that none of the postcards should be addressed. While we use this PO box for many of our projects, the box is not exclusively ours, and we are sharing box usage with another group. In order to make it easier on our postal carrier, we do not have any of our packages, or postcards addressed to the group (since it was rented out in someone's name) Rather we have everyone leave them blank. We appreciate your help in this. We want to make sure we recieve all the mail you send.
Our other projects are proceeding. "A Year In Our Lives..." Is so successful, it is a little intimidating. We have recieved quite a number of postcards, but some have yet to send their first one. We will be following up with those who are not participating and may be opening up a second round of volunteers for this project if we dip below our original paarticipation goal.

"Letters" is another issue. We have recieved only ONE letter to date. We are considering another round of advertisements and adding another group to the original number. This means either an extension or a secondary group. We'll keep you posted.

On a lighter note. We are offering a little prize on our website for our third month anniversary. Can you find it?
